Day 4: Exploring AI Trends to Boost Engagement

9/17/2025

Imagine standing in front of a group of students who seem more interested in their shoelaces than your lesson. Now imagine pulling out your phone, typing one sentence into an AI tool, and instantly getting a creative, interactive activity idea that hooks every student’s attention.
That happened to me just last week during a coaching session. A teacher wanted to spark interest in a new science unit on force, but time was tight. In under three minutes, we used an AI tool to:
  • generate a visual prompt of a skateboarder flying off a ramp,
  • create a poll asking, “What force will act on the skateboarder after they leave the ramp?”, and
  • Build a quick “force or not a force” quiz that students could answer on their Chromebooks.

As soon as the image popped up and the first poll question appeared, students leaned forward, debated their answers, and started using academic vocabulary before the lesson even began.
That’s the power of staying on top of AI trends — small shifts that spark big engagement.

Why It Matters

This week is all about quick wins, and exploring current AI trends is one of the fastest ways to uncover new tools, ideas, and strategies that can save time and energize your classroom.
Here are five AI trends transforming classrooms right now:
1. AI-Generated Interactive Content
  • Tools like Curipod, MagicSchool, and Nearpod create slides, polls, and quizzes in minutes.
  • Engagement Boost: Kick off class with an interactive poll to spark curiosity and participation.
2. AI for Personalized Learning
  • Platforms like Diffit, Khanmigo, and SchoolAI adapt content to student levels and interests.
  • Engagement Boost: Offer choice — let students select their “just right” reading level or activity.
3. AI Chatbots as Class Helpers
  • Teachers are building simple unit-specific GPTs or Gemini Gems for student Q&A.
  • Engagement Boost: Students get instant answers and feel empowered to drive their own learning.
4. Generative AI for Creative Projects
  • Canva AI, Adobe Firefly, and DALL·E let students turn concepts into visuals and stories.
  • Engagement Boost: Visual creation taps into creativity and helps students express understanding.
5. AI-Powered Feedback & Formative Assessment
  • AI can analyze student work and generate instant feedback or exit tickets.
  • Engagement Boost: Students get timely, specific feedback that motivates improvement.

Daily Challenge

Explore one of the AI trends.
  • Spend 5 minutes trying it out or reading a quick article about one of the AI Trends. (See sample AI Trends in the PDF below)

  • Reflect:
    • How could this trend spark more engagement in my classroom?
    • What’s one small way I could try it this week?
