30-Day AI Challenge — Day 1: Why AI?

9/14/2025

Imagine having a co-teacher who’s always ready to help — planning lessons at midnight, creating rubrics while you sip your coffee, or suggesting differentiation strategies in seconds. That’s the power of AI in the classroom.
Welcome to Day One of the 30-Day AI Challenge! This week is all about Quick Wins with AI — simple, high-impact ways to save time and spark student engagement.

Why It Matters

AI isn’t here to replace teachers — it’s here to empower them. Recently, during an onsite coaching session, I was working with a teacher who wanted to design future-ready activities to boost student engagement and collaboration. The challenge? He was on a tight budget and had zero time to start from scratch.
That’s when ChatGPT came to the rescue. I had him pull out his phone, snap a quick photo of the items in his classroom, and then type in the standards he needed to cover. Within seconds, AI generated a creative 8–10 minute hands-on collaborative activity using only the supplies already in his cabinet. The look of relief on his face said it all — instead of feeling overwhelmed, he felt inspired and ready to try something new with his students.
Moments like this are why I believe AI belongs in every teacher’s toolkit — not to replace their creativity, but to unlock it.
Here are just a few ways AI can transform your teaching:
  • Save Time – Draft lesson plans, parent emails, rubrics, and anchor charts in minutes.
  • Differentiate Instruction – Generate leveled activities, scaffolds, and enrichment tasks tailored to your students’ needs.
  • Spark Creativity – Brainstorm engaging projects, hands-on activities, or real-world scenarios for any topic or standard.

Daily Challenge

Today’s challenge:
  1. Make a quick list of 3 tasks that take you 30+ minutes each week.
  2. Pick one task.
  3. Try using an AI tool (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, or MagicSchool.ai) to complete it.
Reflect: How much time did you save? How could you use that extra time with your students?
